One of Washington’s very own, he is. From Reardan, about 20 miles west of Spokane on Highway 2, Mr. Alexie has had a great run as an author the past few years (including winning the National Book Award), and he’ll also be a featured speaker at the International Reading Associations Annual Convention in Atlanta this coming May.
If you have the chance to hear him speak, take it. Neat guy.
